TwitrPix in “Best of Desktop File & Image Sharing Tools”

The good folks over at Hongkiat.com just compiled and published their “Best of Desktop File and Image Sharing Tools” and TwitrPix Express for Firefox was mentioned in the Firefox add-on section.  Very cool to be included on their list as they are a highly respected destination in the design/dev community and we’re all really big fans here at TwitrPix HQ.  So it was quite surprisingly to see it flow into our RSS readers.

“Um, did we just get mentioned on Hongkiat?”  After reloading the page a 2nd time to be sure my eyes weren’t deceiving me, “(expletives intentionally removed) Yeah!”

Please head over and read the full article at Hongkiat.com.  Many thanks for the nod.

Want the browser add on?  TwitrPix Express for Firefox.  For Google Chrome users, we have you covered as well with TwitrPix Express for Chrome.  A little birdie in Cupertino says there’s something for Safari users coming soon as well pretty soon.

So much in fact, we thought it was worthy of an official blog post. So without any more delay, some great photos taken by you this past Halloween. Unfortunately, there were thousands of really great photos to choose from but enjoy what we’ve picked out.

PockeTwit + Windows Mobile + TwitrPix

We’ve received a lot of feedback from our users who have Windows Mobile phones that they couldn’t find a good Twitter app to use with TwitrPix. You’ve spoken. We’ve heard. Allow us to introduce PocketTwit, the premier Twitter app for Windows Mobile from the folks at @PockeTwit — and yes, it now sports the ability to share photos using TwitrPix.

You can find out more information about the latest release at the PockeTwit blog or just head over and download it now!

Side note: Congrats to @PockeTwit who’ve celebrated over 10,000 downloads of their Windows Mobile app a few weeks ago.

Vindicat Lustrum + Netherlands = 12,000 Poses in 12 Days

We here at TwitrPix HQ love when we see interesting ways of using social media to connect people. One of the most interesting uses was at the recent Vindicat Lustrum celebration in the Netherlands this month. Spanning from July 8-21, this event was part of the 195th anniversary for the Vindicat Atque Polit student organization. Over the 12 days, thousands of people joined the celebration by posing over 12,000 times in 3,013 photos.

How was it done? Using the Spark Booth app which we covered here, a computer, and a webcam, a kiosk was setup running Spark Booth in kiosk mode. Attendees simply had to walk up and pose, and their photo was instantly shared on Twitter using TwitrPix.

The event ended on the 21st and if a picture is truly worth a thousand words, then the last photo of the event seems to sum up the mood of having to leave.

Einde = End

Grab a drink, sit down and flip through some really great photos. We need to note, however, that these photos may not be entirely suitable for all ages or the work place.

20 Twitter Apps for Media Sharing; TwitrPix Mention

We recognize that we’re not the biggest service available. Yes, we’re pretty humble over here. But we also recognize that we have created a great service that is being used in over 24 Twitter apps on the iPhone, Android, desktop, mashups, etc. So we’re quite pleased today.

The folks at [Re]Encoded created a great list of 20 Twitter applications to help you distribute images and videos on Twitter. Among some very good sites, TwitrPix was mentioned in the image category as the 2nd service out of 10. While we don’t think the list is in a specific order, maybe we’ve come a little ways since Mashable recognized us last year?

Tweetatorium + TwitrPix + Android FTW

We love simplicity and we’re big fans of the Android OS. So its pretty exciting that we’ve received word from Carl Declerck (@Tweetatorium), the developer behind Tweetatorium, that version 1.0.7 has just been released into the Android Market with TwitrPix integration.

So we did mention simplicity, right? Tweetatorium works by becoming a natural extension of how you capture and view photos on your Android-based phone. Once you save your Twitter settings and choose TwitrPix as your photo sharing service, you’re done. Any time you take a photo or view one from your album, just click the “share” button and select Tweetatorium from the “Share picture via” menu. Type in your status update and click the upload button. Because it is tightly integrated into Android, you don’t have to wait for the photo to upload. You’ll receive an alert once the photo and status update has been sent.

For more information on Tweetatorium, download it (it’s free!) from the Market on your Android phone right now. Be sure to follow @Tweetatorium.
