TwitrPix Express for Safari

The folks here at TwitrPix HQ are happy to announce the release of TwitrPix Express for Safari.  This free browser extension enables Safari users to share any photo from any web site directly to Twitter with one click.  We’re super excited to bring this feature to Safari users.  Previously we’ve launched extensions for the Google Chrome and Mozilla Firefox browsers which have been well received.

Also, we’re happy to announce that our extension has been included into the official Apple Safari Extensions Gallery.  Just visit https://extensions.apple.com/ and click on Twitter Tools in the left column.

Continuing in our effort to make social media sharing as simple as possible — if you use the Safari web browser,  TwitrPix Express for Safari is an free essential tool to have.

New Update of TwitrPix for iPhone/iPad Released

Here at TwitrPix HQ, we’ve been hard at work listening to our community. The next evolution — mobile. We’ve optimized our site for desktop and mobile (phones and tablet), the next frontier for us was mobile sharing. We thought long and hard about what people did when they shared a photo. We listened to your feedback. We found that users typically take photos on the fly — at a concert, at a family event, with friends hanging out, etc. In order to do so, they needed a way to capture and share as quickly as possible.

We are pleased to announce the release of TwitrPix for iOS (version 1.5) — A native app that works equally well on almost any Apple device such as the iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad and iPad 2.

We started with improving the nearly instant-on camera. From the moment you start the app, you are immediately ready to capture a photo. On devices without a camera (ie. iPad), you can still select a photo from the camera roll. For the latest iPhone and iPad 2, you can easily select between the front or rear-facing camera. The quick access to capturing a photo is only the start.

Everyone loves filters. Giving the photo an old, aged, or unique look is more about personalizing the photo. So included is a set of 14 filters and effects so you can really make the photo your own. What makes TwitrPix for iOS unique is that you can preview thumbnails of your photos in all of the filters at once. You’re not presented with a set of canned thumbnails of someone else’s sample photo. You see your photo in every filter. Select a filter and we’ll show you the full size preview quickly.

Our last platform update included Aviary Feather, which allows users to fully edit their photos on our site.  To give users even more control, we partnered with Aviary again on the mobile side.  Now users have all of the powerful photo editing controls right there on their mobile phone including:

  • Crop
  • Rotate
  • Flip
  • Brightness
  • Contrast
  • Saturation
  • Colors
  • Redeye Removal
  • Stickers
  • Freehand drawing
  • Text effects
  • Whiten Teeth
  • Blemish Removal
  • Sharpen
  • and Blur

We’re really excited to have partnered with Aviary again to improve your mobile photo sharing experience.

As in the first release, all photos are saved to your phone’s internal storage. By doing so, you also have the ability to apply multiple effects to photos for a trully layered look. After sharing, you have the option of copying your photo URL so that you can paste it on any site, email it, share it on Facebook and more.

New Feature: Webcam Support

Here at TwitrPix HQ, we recognize that we have a very vibrant community of users from all of the world. We gratefully receive a lot of comments and feature requests and have made 2011 the year to expand our functionality.

Based on the feedback there’s been a growing need to being able to to just “share.” We’ve tackled that with the release of our Firefox addon last year — that wasn’t enough. With the adoption of Google Chrome, users have been asking for a Chrome version of the addon — we released that in January 2011. And to round off the major browsers, we have a Safari version waiting for approval. All three will help users share photos from any web site, whenever they wanted to. We’ve seen some interesting use cases.

However, one of the long-standing requests was the ability to take photos with a webcam. The general consensus was people wanted to share something they were doing immediately without having to upload the photo from somewhere else. Our favorite one involved the birth of a couple’s first child that just came home and they wanted to share it with their family on Twitter who couldn’t be there. True story. Yeah, that kind of pulled at our heart strings a bit. But it made perfect sense and there were a lot of cases similar to that.

With that being said, we pushed out a rather small but useful component today to include webcam support in TwitrPix. This new functionality helps anyone with a webcam, take a photo and immediately share the moment on Twitter. We’re really excited to see what people start capturing.

To use, simply head over to Upload A Photo and click the orange Use Webcam. Smile and take a photo.

We hope you enjoy it! And continue to send us feedback on @TwitrPix or at hi [at] twitrpix.com.

Google Chrome + TwitrPix = 1 Click Photo Sharing

Here at TwitrPix HQ, we can’t believe its already 2011. It was really an incredible year and we’re kicking off ’11 with something for of our friends that use the Google Chrome web browser.

Building off the success of our Firefox add-on, we’re proud to announce TwitrPix Express for Chrome.

This browser extension let’s you share any photo from any web site just with a simple right-click. This is a really incredible and useful feature to help users socially share their experience around the web. You don’t have to download and then upload the photo in order to share it. With a simple right-click, we’ll get the image and share it on Twitter for you.

From the toolbar, you’ll have 1-click access to upload photos directly from your computer whenever you need to. Also, you can view the Public Stream to see what people are discovering and sharing on Twitter right now as well as manage your account.

We hope you find it useful and we welcome your feedback. We have a lot of really cool features coming out this quarter focused around providing you the tools to share media as simply and quickly as possible.

For more information on TwitrPix Express for Chrome, visit the extension on the Google Chrome App site. Have Firefox instead, then head over to the Mozilla addon page for TwitrPix Express for Firefox.

Enjoy!

TwitrPix on Mashable's Top 10 Twitter Photo Sharing Services

Today marks a very important milestone since TwitrPix was quietly released into the wild earlier this year. While we have been extremely busy adding new features and functionality not present in competing services, we just saw a Facebook post that really surprised us. A recent vote by the readers of Mashable, the internet’s most respected voice in Web 2.0 & Social Media news, has placed TwitrPix on a very special list — Top 10 Twitter Photo Sharing Services.

What makes this list really amazing is that Mashable’s readers have voted it above other sites which are more popular. Although we did come in 10th place, we here at Cando can’t really complain. We are definitely in some very good company and appreciate all of the support Mashable’s readers and especially our TwitrPix users have been.
